Raised in rural Kansas where he developed a strong work ethic, Michael Farmer earned a scholarship to Emporia State University where he received academic and athletic All-American honors. After graduating from college, he worked for outdoor giant, The Coleman Company, and completed his MBA degree at Wichita State University.
Michael entered the pet industry in 1994 and, in 2001, founded Firstrax with Lucas Saxe. In 2005, after several product innovations in the field of pet containment, they sold Firstrax to the United Pet Group. As part of his continued commitment to the pet industry, Michael serves as the Chairman of the American Pet Products Association, APPA, board and he has served on the board of the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council, PIJAC.
While the creation, growth, and sale of a very successful company was a goal for Michael, he was now fully infected by the entrepreneurial bug. With the encouragement of his wife, three children, and Miniature Schnauzer (Jackson), he and Lucas spent a couple years traveling throughout Europe and the U.S. researching pet food and evaluating the pros and cons of existing pet foods. The result of this research confirmed the need for a better way to feed your pet, and the pair launched GlobalOne Pet, Inc., to address that need.
